NUCCA
The NUCCA procedure is designed to correct the head, spine, and pelvis back to a balanced unstressed position with a holistic approach to well-being. This correction removes stress and tension from the nervous system so the body’s natural self-healing process can begin. There are only about 150-200 offices worldwide that do specialized work like ours.

The National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association (NUCCA) was founded in 1966, by Dr. Ralph Gregory, from Monroe, Michigan, with the goal in mind of helping practice members recover from their pain and illness by precise corrections of the upper spine. It is making these tiny corrections of the upper neck that allows the spine to return to its vertical axis, thus allowing for better overall bodily function.
What is NUCCA?
NUCCA is a specialized chiropractic technique. The intent of NUCCA is to maintain alignment of the skull with the upper cervical spine as best as possible so that the spinal cord and nerve systems can operate optimally. When the head is properly aligned with the upper neck, the entire skeletal structure is in better balance and stability also.

NUCCA is a very gentle and precise technique. After precision x-rays are taken, the NUCCA doctor will measure the alignment of the spine that will be used to provide specific adjustments to the spine. The precise adjustments are very gentle and involve no twisting, cracking, or popping. After an adjustment, the patient will often experience positive changes throughout their spine and entire body. Taking stress and tension off the nervous system can have very far reaching effects.
Why is body balance so important?
The spinal column remains straight and balanced as long as the weight of the head is centered over the neck. When the weight of the head is shifted off center due to an accident or injury, the body will compensate and move into an imbalanced position. In an effort to keep the head centered over the neck, the spine and pelvis will twist and lock into a stressed position.

This imbalance shows up with one of the legs being longer or shorter, one hip higher or lower, twisting of the body framework, muscular imbalance, abnormal movement, and over time progressive wear and tear.
This body position can cause stress, tension and pressure on the entire nervous system, most importantly the brain stem (base of the brain). This is very important because our body shuttles millions of electrical and chemical impulses back and forth from the brain to every cell of our body each day. Any restriction or distortion of those messages (nerve impulses) can affect every body function. Many of these messages are unconscious such as breathing, digestion, and circulation.

If this is not corrected, the long term effect is degeneration of that part of the body serviced by those restricted messages-resulting in mild to severe pain, lowered resistance to illness, behavioral changes, organ dysfunction, loss of mobility in limbs, and ultimately disease.
